Komatsu to Acquire North American Remanufacturing Business to Enhance Parts Supply Efficiency

2026-02-26

Komatsu America Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd., has reached an agreement to acquire the remanufacturing business assets of SRC of Lexington Inc., a leading remanufacturing supplier based in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. The transaction is expected to close by the end of February 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

This acquisition aims to further expand Komatsu’s remanufacturing capacity in North America and accelerate the efficiency of parts supply and service response in the region. SRC’s product portfolio covers high-wear, high-value components for large mining and quarrying equipment, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic assemblies—critical parts for ensuring the operational stability of large dump trucks and loaders.

Remanufacturing involves the professional repair and restoration of key components to near-original equipment manufacturer (OEM) quality standards. From fiscal year 2010 to 2024, Komatsu’s remanufacturing business volume has grown approximately fourfold. Integrating SRC’s Lexington-based remanufacturing center into Komatsu’s global network will enable faster response to spare parts demand from customers in the eastern United States and stabilize the component refurbishment cycle.

This strategic move solidifies Komatsu’s OEM-supported remanufacturing supply chain, ensuring customers receive reliable, cost-effective replacement parts while promoting resource efficiency and sustainability.
